Space education contributes to the development of individuals who bring diverse viewpoints and perspectives, independent thinking, and continuous learning to the challenge of creating our future.

Space Education as a Contribution to SDGs Achievement

SDGs (Goal4: Quality Education) calls for high-quality technical education to be available and equally accessible to everyone by 2030. To this end, JAXA is undertaking the challenge to contribute to educating the coming generation by providing high-quality space education that leverages our strengths as a core research institution in the aerospace field.

Promotion of Space Education

JAXA delivers education to many young persons in a variety of ways: by developing and providing educational materials for schools, working closely with educational committees and teachers, supporting public educational initiatives and their leaders, and providing online education through our JAXA Academy. In addition, we develop and provide training programs that incorporate SDG perspectives—such as exploring what climate change looks like when viewed from space—as a way to contribute the type of knowledge and awareness that can be so important in driving progress toward sustainable development.

  • By providing educational initiatives that leverage our strengths as a core research institution in the aerospace field, we contribute to the provision of high-quality education.
  • Our space education offerings contribute to equal access to high-quality education, and the education itself contributes to the achievement of gender equality by raising awareness of this issue.
  • By including climate-change challenges and approaches as topics in our space education material, we contribute to education and awareness about this issue.
